This project was created in response to a growing need for deeper cultural connection, land-based learning, and intergenerational engagement within our community. At its heart, the initiative centers cultural preservation, shared knowledge across generations, health and wellness, connection to the land, and pathways to economic opportunity.
Through hands-on activities and shared learning, participants will build knowledge of plants, food systems, and cultural practices. Whether you’re just beginning or bringing years of experience, the workshops invite everyone to develop practical skills in growing food, working with plants, and exchanging personal and family traditions. The series offers a warm, inclusive space to learn together, connect across generations, and celebrate practices that strengthen both individual well-being and community bonds.
This project is made possible through partnerships with Casa de la Cultura de Kentucky (a Lexington-based nonprofit), Kentucky State University, Community Farm Alliance (CFA), and Berea College Grow Appalachia.

Este proyecto nació como respuesta a la creciente necesidad de fortalecer la conexión cultural, el aprendizaje basado en la tierra y el intercambio intergeneracional dentro de nuestra comunidad. The community gathered on a warm summer evening to enjoy live music, vibrant culture, and dancing. Members of Casa de la Cultura lit up the plaza with a nonstop ten-minute performance, keeping the energy high. As the sun dipped behind the square, the crowd came alive, moving and cheering in celebration.
