Spanish Boot camp is a one day camp for practicing Spanish. The native Spanish speakers in the camp are immigrants who want to improve help Spanish learners improve their speaking and listening skills.
From 8:15 a.m. on a Saturday until 5 pm, a team of Native Spanish speakers works one on one with Spanish language learners to improve comprehension, accent, and speaking and presentation skills. The native Spanish speakers have a variety of accents and backgrounds, and most are not teachers of Spanish, so when you practice with them, you will have to understand ordinary spoken Spanish, spoken with an accent and at normal speed. It is an incredible experience that participants never forget. They gain confidence in their skills, and enjoy the ability to learn from native Spanish speakers about Latin American culture, history and current events.
Lunch is also a time for practicing, as each table sits two Spanish speakers and two learners, so you can practice conversation with four people in Spanish! We also practice phone skills and presentation skills so you will feel more confident making a call and asking or giving information. We support you throughout the day and encourage you when you feel tired. At the end of day you will have a great sense of accomplishment – and your Spanish and self-confidence is better!
Send an email if you want to find out more ….or if you want to volunteer for the English Boot camp to help immigrants improve their language skills.
